Scott Hannig, DVM

Dr. Hannig was born and raised in St. George. He attended Dixie High School and Dixie College. He obtained his bachelors degree in BioVeterinary Science at Utah State University, and was then accepted into Washington State University’s College Of Veterinary Medicine. He graduated with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2000.

Upon graduation from WSU, Dr Hannig moved his family to Henderson, NV where he practiced for seven years as an associate and then a partner at American Pet Hospital located in Las Vegas.

In 2007 he had the opportunity to sell his practice and move back home to St. George where he became a partner in Red Hills Animal Hospital with Dr. Esplin.

Dr. Hannig and his wife have 4 children, two dogs (a Brittany named Chase and a Dachshund named Allie), a hamster, a guinea pig, and chickens. He loves spending time with his family, especially on Cedar Mountain where they love to snowmobile, ride ATV’s and just be in the beautiful mountains.

Dr. Hannig loves being a veterinarian. His greatest satisfaction comes from helping his patients be as healthy and comfortable as possible. By doing this he feels that he is making the lives of their human family members happier and more complete. He understands the value of the Human-Animal Bond. His special interests include internal medicine, clinical pathology, preventive medicine, emergency medicine, dentistry, senior pet care and Dermatology. Dr. Hannig currently serves on the boards of the Utah Veterinary Medical Association and Southwest Animal Emergency Hospital.
